Drug Discovery by systematically scanning molecular space

Dr. Wim Meutermans, PhD - Director of Chemistry
Wim Meutermans obtained a PhD from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium in 1988, was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Queensland, Australia (1988-1990) and later at the CSIC, Spain (1991-1992). From 1993-2000 he was appointed at the Centre for Drug Design and Development, University of Queensland, where he supervised drug discovery and combinatorial chemistry projects funded through federal and industrial grants. Wim joined Alchemia in April 2000 to help establish Alchemia’s drug discovery technology, and its applications in various drug discovery projects.

Dr. Bernd Becker, PhD - Senior Research Scientist
Bernd Becker completed his PhD at the University of Hamburg (Germany) with Joachim Thiem in the area of monosaccharide chemistry. He spent two postdoctoral years each at Industrial Research Ltd. (New Zealand) with Richard Furneaux and at the University of Alberta (Canada) with David Bundle, working in different areas of carbohydrate chemistry. In 2001 he joined Alchemia and is currently working as Senior Research Scientist on the technology development and production of carbohydrate-based libraries.
